From the Frontlines Back to Ourselves:
A BIPOC healing group for Frontline Workers (Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Supportive Housing Workers, Cleaning Staff, Paramedics, Harm Reduction Workers, and many other frontline workers)
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all, and frontline workers have weathered a particular impact.
Doctors, nurses, midwives, supportive housing workers, cleaning staff, paramedics, harm reduction workers, and many other frontline workers in other roles, have cared for those who are sick and who have died of this pandemic.
Many of you have colleagues who have died. And you’ve had to keep showing up to work the next day and the one after and the one after that. Some of you have even protested in the streets demanding resources and support for your fellow workers as well as our communities. The impact of continuing to work through it all for the past year and a half has been so significant.
As somatic practitioners, we've received requests from frontline workers in our community to run a group to hold space for your healing. To use our skills to make a little room for you to exhale, collectively; to feel into all you've been holding, and are still holding, and where possible, to begin to let some of it go.
This somatic healing group is a space for BIPOC Front Line Workers to collectively feel into what that you've been through. You will practice reconnecting to your body, which you’ve had to push so hard through so much, and we will collectively rebuild an internal sense of safety, which can get so rocked by ongoing exposure to loss without spaces to process. We will collectively process some of the grief this group is holding, using somatic practices and bodywork. We will envision towards futures in which those of us who are in caretaking roles receive adequate care. You will learn somatic practices to continue returning to center, and to yourself, beyond this group. You've been holding a lot, let's hold it, and move through it together.
